ユキハミ(Snom)から進化した『こおりがポケモン(Frost Moth Pokémon)』のモスノウ(Frosmoth)。冷気を発生させる大きな翅で猛吹雪を起こすことから、英名の前半部分は英語で『霜』などを意味するfrost(霜、霜柱)が由来です。また虫の蛾をモチーフにしていることから、英名の後半部分はそのまま英語のmoth(蛾)があてられています。
